POSTED AT 08:43 AM I think the early mornings are getting to me. I woke up at 8 am today. And it's a holiday. Also, I realised what an idiot I was yesterday. I was wondering why on earth RGBC was having a workshop on video editing on two Thursdays, of all days. It dawned on me today that I was still looking at April's calendar, when it's already May. So, here it is... I do free adverts. Haha. Anyone interested? ---
Ok, advert done. Next! James Morrison was on TV yesterday. Yay yay yay Haha. I sound as if I know him or something. Whatever. So yesterday was a lazy-bum day and today sounds like a go-getter. Haha. Dang. I so don't want to see the fB practice today. (Shh) I wants. to bes. a bums. todays. But! I am meeting Mei Yee and Jimmy for lunchies today and the (intended) topic of discussion is filming and productions, and who on earth are we to dream of doing our own films? Haha. We were talking about dreams during Headstart and I mentioned doing movies / production house... and she mentioned Christian media... and we were like... woah? Woohoo. And then today I remembered that I'd arranged to meet them for lunch at 1.30pm because Mei Yee couldn't make it for breakfast... and we were supposed to have that meeting with Ps Thomas from PCC about the musical! BUTTTTTTTT Ps Thomas has STILL not "gotten back to Oliver" about whether he can make it, so I shall take that as a no. And I realised that I only have 67 books in my Library Thing. Does that mean that I actually only possess so few books? Or does that mean that my books are so scattered around the house that I don't / can't remember what's mine, and what I own? I don't know. talk to me!

KL.... POSTED AT 10:04 PM I... wants... to... jam. Peeps... I will be in KL from 11 - 22 June, barring changes in my allocation. THAT happens frequently, but this job has been there for ages, so the chances are getting slim that it will change again! SO. I don't know how free I will be. But at least the weekend should be free. I hope. And I hope that the senior doesn't OT a lot. HEH. Then you guys can come and TAKE ME OUT FOR DINNER. Muahahahaha. Plan something okies? Listening to: building 429 |

6 WEIRD THINGS ABOUT ME. POSTED AT 04:35 PM "People who are tagged should write a blog post of 6 weird things about them as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says ‘you are tagged’ in their comments and tell them to read your blog." Aiyoh. I thought I'm already plain weird, but to identify 6 things? Hard to think leh... Anyways... 1) I read in the shower. Oh yes, I do. 2) I still do my math on my fingers. Especially when counting change. 3) When writing, I prefer to be totally alone. Once someone else is in the room, I can't write properly. Even if it's just a blog post. 4) Whenever I want to buy or do something, I need to talk about it for at least a month before I actually get round to buying / doing it. Then it takes me just about 5 minutes to get it anyway. 5) I edit everything I write. I also edit almost everything I think. However, I've given up editing other people's writings. It's just too tiring. 6) I'm actually really a very private person, and a loner. Contrary to what this blog might make you think. There. So the people I tag are... 1) FAYYYYYYY cos I misses you 2) JASMIIIINNNNEEEE darling! cos i think you haven't been tagged ever. 3) 4) RAYYYSSSS cos you're on holiday (soon? or already?) 5) King Pui? cos lex has done it... and she said to tag you. 6) LIINNNGGGSSSS cos.. cos you're weirder than me!!!
THERE. I totally avoided tagging everybody that I always tag. |

another afternoon of Jazz POSTED AT 06:42 PM I was in the middle of a post... when my mom came to ask me to do stuff... and everything errored. Dang. ANYWAY, where was I? I'm still in dreamland (slightly disturbed at the moment) after coming back from a super duperly impressive jazz session at ARECA Centre of Performing Arts. The team, J2L Jass 3o are really superb! I've been grinning like a idiot since I stepped into the hall at about 3.20pm and heard them practicing Spain. (I realise I use the word 'idiot' a lot.) I was actually 10 minutes early, but thought I was late as the door was closed when I entered, and there was this beautiful music wafting through the wall. Haha. Now, that sounds weird. Heh. Anyway, an open door later, I found I was the first to arrive. Whee for noob power! I'm actually still quite speechless at the moment. I don't know how to describe them or the music. The song set was brilliant. I think the thing I liked most about them was... they were fun. I don't know the names of the jazz numbers they did, but they were great. Greater still was their renditions of the Sesame Street theme song (woohoo!!!) and My Favourite Things from Sound of Music. There was also this medley thingy with Jingle Bells and Rudolf. Hehe. The best of all, of course, was Chick Corea's Spain. And that was what really propelled them in my mind, from being great, to superb. Haha. FYI, the only other jazz band (?) that I've heard play Spain was Farid Ali. And even then, he only played it if John Thomas and Fly were with him.

geniusity. POSTED AT 11:44 PM It's already the end of Tuesday. Sigh. What have I done so far? Nothing. Sigh. Haha. I spent last night helping Oliver do online research. I should be an online researcher. I think I need to crash now. Listening to: Jazz Selecta on Traxx.fm |

inane POSTED AT 10:29 PM Apparently I'm also a genius at finding things. So says my senior. I found the missing inventory section that they couldn't find for ages. It was actually by accident. I was looking for some other stuff in a file named "A", and then saw that that section for company B had been accidentally filed in the A file last year. Finding things is simple. You just have to look. Now she's asking if I could possibly go back to the office to look for the other missing files, just in case I have the special touch to find them. Haha. I doubt it. --- Left the office at the same time as Calvin. He asked, "so how? Good?" "No good... no good... wanna retire dy" "Haha... why don't you find a rich husband?" "Want to. Haven't found yet." "Maybe you're too picky" "Don't know where to look." Hahahahahahahahahaha. --- On the children's books, I still have yet to sign the agreement!! But I'll get paid when I do!!! --- I'm actually sleepy already. Should I sleep this early? It feels weird. --- J2L. Mmmmmmmm. |

artsy-fartsy POSTED AT 04:04 PM Remember Alexis? Think Audee's. Audee's is cheaper, in that the drinks (that I drink) are about RM6.50 each compared to the RM10 in Alexis. Audee's is nicer, in that it's fully air-conditioned, and less smoky. Actually, it was NON-smoky. (They did have ashtrays though, but only one guy lit up for a brief while.) The sofas are clunky though, so you have to pretty much stay where you are. Haha. I don't know. I thought J2L was much better on Sunday. More together, in a way. Maybe because they didn't have a singer then. I thought she was... erm... old. And I didn't really like her voice. --- OH YAY I fixed my browser. Haha. I can see images now. All it needed was a little online search. Teehee! --- Where was I before I got distracted? Hmmm... Oh yes. BUT Alexis has Sharizan and Fly, and Farid Ali... and Michael Veerapan... hahah. Oh well. Wait la. For Penang. To somehow. Improve. And it was quiet. As in, there was no excessive chatter and noise, clinks and clanks etc etc over the music. It was just... music. It was a bit dim though, as usual. And the lights... argh... can't stand the light!! This supid little disco ball thing flashing weird coloured lights in front. Such a distraction. The "stage" thingy was too dark - you can't actually really see the musicians, and beside they're like tucked away in this corner. They need better lighting!! And to get rid of that stupid disco ball! Haha. Okay. So that's it. Next they say I should drop by Bagan. --- Videos. Yes. I haven't talked about videos. Last Saturday and today I dropped over to RGBC for their free video editing training. It was cool, though I felt awfully noobish when all these people started asking their technical questions and what-nots. But it's ok! I learnt stuff... which I hope I will use... seeing I don't even own a video camera, and my digital cam can only take silent movies. Heh. But! It's just something I'll keep in store for *whenever*. They had this sheet... where they asked us to fill in names, and media involvement / position, and contact details. I got stuck. Erm. Media involvement?? *Resident kaypo* Hehe. No, I didn't write that. I wrote... "Creative Arts." Then stared at it. Then added "Head." It felt weird. But there's always a first time, eh?

of work POSTED AT 12:20 AM Interesting things happen at work all the time. Take, for example, accidents. Apparently, some guy in the client's place got his hand stuck in a machine. We saw the Bomba and Ambulance. But we were cordoned off from actually seeing the guy. I think it must have been quite a terrible accident because they took AGES to get him out of there! They said something about having to open the whole machine to extract his hand. (Oh, gross.) A colleague said that she actually SAW a guy running out of the client's place (a different client) with his hand all wrapped up, and another guy running after him with a bag of ice, and apparently, his finger which got chopped off. (Double gross) Take, for example, sweet old ladies. I was waiting for my colleague to pick me up when this sweet old lady walks by, staring at my car. She came over to my window, and I was starting to wonder if she was going to scold me for parking by the curb. Instead, she asked me about my car, and how much it costs. She was thinking of buying one too, and wanted to know if it was a good car. Hehe. |

road trips POSTED AT 11:50 PM It was an adventure of sorts. Setting off into the great unknown. Going where no man has gone before. Err... not really. Armed with only a map and no prior knowledge of directions or landmarks, a colleague and I set off for a statutory audit and a physical sighting in Bukit Mertajam and in Permatang Tinggi. And the miracle is.......... WE DIDN'T GET LOST! Woohoo!! In fact, we even arrived early! We were told that it would take about 40 minutes to an hour to reach BM. So, figuring that I drive slow, and factoring in the fact that we might have to take it slow or detour a little depending on our ability to follow the map, we figured that we should leave my colleague's place near Tesco at about 8.45am for a 10am appointment. However, everything was so smooth-going... that we actually reached the place at... 9.15am. Hahahahahahahahaha. (I'm thinking.. half an hour?! half an hour?! I could have slept more...) So because of that, everything was pushed forward. We even had time to lepak and chit chat over lunch before our next appointment in Permatang Tinggi at 1pm. OH and the amazing thing is, we were assuming that we would have to go back to the highway and follow the second map to the second location... but we didn't have to. We saw a road sign that corresponded with one of the names on the second map, so we asked at a petrol station if the two places were actually connected. And they were. Whee. and tomorrow's Friday. |

bah, humbug POSTED AT 09:00 PM Bad news. I'm not going to KL anymore. AIYAH. Shouldn't have said so early. Btw... if it's still friday / saturday when you read this, drop by http://www.myfreemusicfriday.com for your weekly free downloads! Hehe. --- I didn't actually want to talk about this... but I was just surfing through some fireBRANDS sites... and I noticed that some of them keep using this term "cam-whoring". Uhm. I don't think it's a very nice term to use, and if you're one of those people who actually use that term, PLEASE STOP. I know it's becoming a very common term, but do you actually know what it means? Let's have an impromptu English lesson. First of all... a "whore" is a prostitute. So, (and you can see where I'm going with this) a very simple internet search, (like the one I just did on answers.com) will tell you that..... "A cam whore is an individual who exposes himself or herself on the Internet with webcam software in exchange for goods, usually via enticing viewers to purchase items on their wishlists or add to their online accounts. While the label is usually considered to be derogatory and insulting, it is also used by these people to describe themselves, occasionally in a self-deprecating manner." ARE YOU SURE YOU STILL WANT TO USE THAT TERM??? (You can read the rest of the article here.) Ok, rant over. |

thank yous POSTED AT 04:13 PM We've been going through plans and ideas for the up-and-coming creative arts ministry in the church, and I've realised how much I refer to Julian and the drama team, as well as the dance ministry in Metro Tabernacle A/G as my reference points. Where initially I was wondering if it was a wrong move to change churches from SIB to Metro after my industrial training, I'm beginning to see that it really was of God. So, this is a shout out to you, Mr. My-Drama-Director-in-KL: Thank you! [Clockwise from top left: Ps Ong, Julian, (don't remember his name) and Yoke Chin. Picture stolen from Julian's] This is not to say that it was a wrong move to join SIB in the first place, because I have wonderful memories of CoUZ and 1-800united, and of Drunk Before Dawn, the creative team, and of all my friends too. Strangely though, SIB's reference points seem to be more towards youth and college ministry, and even children's church! Hm. |

snippets POSTED AT 05:01 PM in thoughts It's always have and never hold thefray-lookafteryou ---
The world needs heroes. And yet we are attracted to the anti-heroes that surface in books and movies. Why? Because we identify with their humanity. We like Superman, but we prefer Batman over him because he was human. We admire Spiderman. And yet Captain Jack Sparrow will do much more for us because he portrays our cowardliness in life. We look up to mega churches. But have we forgotten that Christ came to save humanity? It is the troubles that beset us that reveals our humanity and enables God to make us beautiful. Because it was humanity that He came to save – the anti-heroes taught to deal with the issues of life – not the heroes. Because heroes are perfect and don’t need God anyway. ---
It’s human to need. To err. To fall. Because --- Tomorrow's monday. |

venting POSTED AT 06:49 PM ... so if everyone in the world thinks it's alright, does that make it automatically alright? ... so if everyone in the world thinks it's alright and I don't think it is, that makes me wrong? Words may have no power except what we choose to assign to them, and the intent behind them, but what you choose to assign to them may be different from what the reader chooses. And there lies the problem. |

Rights, Jo? Haha... I's a GENIUS! Hehe...
