AT long last,
POSTED AT 11:37 PM

I am home! Whee!

Things I have learnt over the week in Kulim:

1) Guys can be really weird and disgusting.

2) Guys have weird preoccupations.

3) We ARE getting a raise in Jan.

4) "Engagement" to Malays & traditional Chinese = signing of the marriage cert. Aiks.

5) Puzzle Bee does NOT work on my laptop

6) Mamak is definitely NOT Malay food, no matter how "halal" it is.

Annual dinner...
POSTED AT 06:29 PM

My colleague is going to pick me up in about 10 minutes.

I feel... ugly and fat. (imagine that!)

But that's what dressing up does to me. Hahah. I would rather just go in jeans and a nice comfy tee. >.<

But dressing up has its perks too. Haha.

I don't know.

I hope I'm not bored to death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I'm just not a very social person. I have anti-social ideas (yes, I know it's not really the right word to use) but I would really really really love to pull a Jo and bring a book along. Hahahaha. (Sorry, Jo.

I just. don't like. putting. makeup. It makes me feel. ugly. Unless Aunty Christie does it. (I miss you, I do.)

Okay, this is like super random. I should go downstairs and wait, I think. Sigh.

All this fuss for free food. Hm.

I put on weight again.

tired out
POSTED AT 12:13 AM

Sundays are tiring. It's been a busy weekend.

So, the annual dinner was like super delayed because of this MASSIVE traffic jam heading up to Batu Feringghi. The jam started from the Maybank near Chee Seng garden all the way up past Miami Beach. Sigh. Reason? Some stupid road works that closed a long stretch of the road so we had to take turns to move. Can you imagine taking more than an HOUR to reach Park Royal from MY HOUSE?!?! *rolls eyes*

Stupid government.

So anyway, Dennis was up in Penang for a friend's wedding, so we (Nelly and I) took the opportunity to do some church visitation and dropped by at PCC after an early morning breakfast at Pulau Tikus. Managed to catch Oliver in action on the drums. Haha. Met Mei Yi too. Lunch with Dennis and friends at Lao Zher (I think it's spelt that way) and then it was off to dance practice!!!

We started at 2.30 or thereabouts, and ended at 6 plus plus plus. AND THEN, I had to go through the streamers with Vivian because it's SO. DARNED. WRONG. Haha. Sorryla, I have no skill. So by the time I got home, bought dinner, etc etc... it was almost 10.

Now my legs are so tired I don't want to walk to my bed. Haha. *Yawns*

But yeah.

I'm excited for Sunday. Haha.

Do come.

6.30pm

Fort Cornwallis.

i hate titles
POSTED AT 07:10 PM

It's not quite easy to get back into a mode of doing things after you've stopped for a while. And a week is a while. Did you miss me? (Prolly not.)

What is there to say about life and work?

Let's not talk about it.

Let's not think about it.

Let's think about... Christmas and how I haven't wrapped my presents yet. Or how I've totally wasted time today just... doing... nothing. It's nice to do nothing once in a while. Or maybe how I haven't done any prep for the sketch on Christmas Eve. Or maybe about how I should start getting things done.

Alright. I'll go wrap presents now.

Merry Christmas!
POSTED AT 11:51 AM

Love came down on Christmas day
Love came down and looked my way
Love amazing, full of grace
Love came down and showed His face

Love came down in manger laid
Love came down, the price He paid
Love so wonderful, beautifully free
Love came down and sat by me.

(8/12/07)

Sorry if I've used too common a phrase... it just... stuck somehow. (Is there an existing poem using this line or was that just a catchphrase for some event?

david loves you all!!!Rock on...

(That was written by David... he's too free)

DBD Season 2!
POSTED AT 11:54 PM

I watched the Drunk Before Dawn Season 2 DVD (the one in Sabah). Thanks, Wai Nyan, for the DVD! It was interesting to watch it, noting the similarities and the differences as well as remembering the fun it had been. I do think that the original boys vs girls scene with the seladang stories were much more wacky and interesting than the new one with the dreams about Miri & progress. Another thing I didn't really like was the way Lea seemed more wishy-washy about her faith - as if she didn't really know what she believed in, or wasn't quite sure whether she wanted to believe or not. When she suddenly sings with her mother about love and faith leading them through it was a sudden jump from "I'm not sure if I believe" to "I have a lot of faith" (well, to me, at least). But! everything seemed more coordinated and choreographed (over choreographed maybe?) but definitely more... musical-like. Mr Lee wasn't as funny and Ah Fook will never match up to the first (haha!), and I do think they watered down Raut's enthusiastic rawness a little too much. (Or Jaydon is just too smooth.) Penghulu didn't get a lot of air time (wonder why) and the elders have sort of been rolled together with Raut's friends. (Not enough cast?) But I do like the adjustments they made to the beginning with the native narrator. Annabelle didn't get to do her song though. The love scene was more established on the other hand.

Overall, maybe I just liked the first one better because I was in it. I don't know.

Whilst I'm in a reviewing mood, I suppose I'll just jot down a few notes on the recent TARC CF Christmas Night (Penang campus).

Overall very good effort put in, with sponsors and everything! However, a little too long with too many hodgepodge items. The skit by Fettes Park (was it?) - well anyway, the skits about the Christmas tree and the other one with the chewing gum were superbly done. Disappointed with the hecklers in the crowd who were bent on being mean to the Candy Cane. The CF skit itself was a little long and preachy (sorry) and whilst Ps Amos Ng got the crowd in the beginning, he lost it by going on for too long. Short and simple. College kids all have some form of ADD. The emcees were so-so. Vincent was quite good, but the other guy mumbled and there wasn't much rapport. More mikes would have been good for the carolling. I didn't approve of the idea of importing the dance by the Marketing girls though I suppose it's not my place to say. It just brought in an element that would have been better left outside.

But it was just a little too long and we didn't stay for the ending because we were, well, hungry and tired.

I'm just happy that the CF is still keeping up the good work! :D
