enforced hiatus
POSTED AT 10:29 AM

I've been having a lot of "rancangan tergendala" in work due to absentee client and unfindable-yet documents.

So this is yet another rancangan tergendala.

My internet is down at home. And will be for up to the next 14 days (when HP decides to come and do us that new laptop so that we can get the new modem, so that we can finalise the new streamyx package.)

Yes. My modem died.

And yes, I'm in the office. On a saturday morning.

*sigh*

Back!
POSTED AT 12:13 AM

Ok, net's working again, thanks to borrowed modem from Unc Michael Leong.

I'm currently uploading pictures from camerons, which mainly consists of... breakfast one morning. Err. I'm not much of a picture person.  It will take a while though, so I don't think you'll get it tonight. Unless I'm hardworking. Which I am decidedly not. So if you're impatient, surf over to my photobucket, it's linked somewhere, I think.

Yeah. I'm sleepy.

Annual Trip update
POSTED AT 11:27 AM

So I just woke up from my 10 hour "nap". (At 10 last night, I thought I'd take a short lie-down while waiting for my pictures to upload... and I slept until 10 this morning. Haha)

So... some brief pictorial updates.

We were supposed to leave at 7.15 from Citibank... Unfortunately... some people were late.

Annual Trip update (cont'd)
POSTED AT 09:25 PM

Okay, so skip the (boring) telematch during the afternoon, and jump to dinner...

The unprepared photo. haha.

We had... lots of food.

lost 1 lost 2 lost 3

Night treasure hunt in the hotel, which turned out to be a "stand around and look lost session whilst the team leaders are running everywhere". It was a lesson in... how to cheat.

We had a rushed tour the next morning... (pics in no particular order)

Ok la. Lazy already.

I love my camera, because it takes really good pics even when I'm a really lousy photographer.

But... I hate photoblogging. It's too much effort.

I think I'm still just a words kind of person.

Like watching a movie makes me want to write, rather than to act.

Uhm.

Yeah.

I need someone to motivate me.

Because there are things that need doing.

Sigh

a fairly long update
POSTED AT 08:06 PM

So Jo was here over the weekend, and you'll have to pop over to her place for updates (to Jo: OI, where's your update?) and pictures (also to Jo: OI, where are your pictures?) because she took most of them, and the only pictures I have are of the GCF launch, which have been duly posted and tagged and commented upon on Facebook. What we managed to do? Err. In no particular order: Eat, failed attempt to get up Penang Hill (we reached at 4 and the next train was at 5, so we paid RM3 for parking to decide not to go up anyway), random beach walking, not-so-random Batu Ferringhi shopping, lack of sleep, PCC, lunch at Chilli Corner (thumbs up for uber-good tomyam steamed fish), GCF launch, Indy Jones, eat. Yeah. That's it, I think.

Got an 8 CD stash from Eugene over at AllDatJazz, and the first review's up! Check out Gina Panizales' Finally. Yeah, so he's happy, and I'm happy, and there are 7 more to go.

I had an interesting experience invigilating a MICPA exam on Tuesday - there was only one candidate! They say it happens fairly often. In fact, I think the highest amount of candidates this round was 8 for the Wednesday paper. Comparing this to the hundreds taking ACCA... Hm.

Lappie died yesterday, for some obscure reason - probably something to do with the battery and / or the power system. It's not the adaptor or wire because I tested them out on a colleague's laptop and it worked just fine. The problem is, there are only 3 of us using Dell in the office (don't ask my why my office has such a weird procurement system - we obviously don't follow any of the system / setup / advice that we give to our clients!) and Dell's customer service is rather... spotty. It works, kind of, (so says our IT officer) except that you need to rely on A/C power and still leave the battery in, and ignore the blinking light that flickers on and off telling you that you need to recharge the battery. But you can't take out the battery and solely rely on the A/C because then when it starts flickering, the whole laptop dies. Stupid thing is, he thought it was a XP error / bug / crash (common because our Global Desktop seems to conflict with every laptop brand except Toshiba, and we don't buy Toshiba because it's too expensive - do you see the logic yet?) and reformatted everything (after I extracted what I could and dumped them in the shared folders, of course). Still, the whole reformatting thing means that it will take me another month or so to rearrange everything to my liking and get comfortable with it again, though most important data has been saved. The other thing is I hope I didn't lose any of my music, because I didn't have the time / space to reload everything elsewhere and I couldn't remember which were from CDs that I own and which were ripped from other people's CDs.

Anyway, totally wrong time for it to die on me! I'm going to be seconded to the Internal Audit Department effective next week for 3 months or so (not including about one month where I have to go back to the audit department to cover some jobs that can't be pushed to other people) and apparently I'll be going "outstation" next week! Gah. So I won't have the time to re-setup and get comfy with the lappie again. And as always, having a portable desktop is so irritating at a client's. What if they don't have enough plug points? (Wait - my office doesn't have enough plug points either, but that's a different story.)

Sigh. Oh well. =/

Did I miss anything else out? Guess not.
