KL shout out POSTED AT 08:42 PM Because I have been randomly asking people for dinner, and I hope I remember everyone. Supposedly 27 Aug 09 (Thurs)... assuming my leave is approved and I reach KL by nightfall... People I have mentioned this to (I think):
And that's all I can remember now.
I really need a new brain.
(Um, comment if you should be there... hahaha...)

MORE holidays POSTED AT 10:24 PM So my plans are firming up! Dinner on 27th Aug: either Bubba Gump or Chilli's. Vote now! Haha. current confirms: susanna, kimmi, simeon, jimmy, luke, trixie, wenping, edwin I keep forgetting who I asked. And at any rate, I saved the file on my office laptop which isn't open at the moment. Oh well. I will remember. In a bit. But if you're supposed to be there, but you're not... err... let me know yah. If FB loads this, I'll tag everyone I think of anyway. Heh. (Then you can vote where you wanna eat too... or bring me somewhere new.) Whee. Then it's book fest on the 28th, and off to KK! AND THEN it's back to KL on the 31st and up to Camerons on 1st Sept. Am grateful for the Camerons trip - I'M ALMOST OUT OF TEA! Back to Penang on the 2nd, and then off to Kuching on the 3rd. My colleague will be on the same flight as me! Finally back to Penang on the 6th, and back to work on the 8th. Whoop-dee-doo-dah! Another 2 weeks at work to go. I'm tired just thinking about it. |

Random Thoughts for a Random Thursday POSTED AT 12:13 AM If my primary school phys-ed teacher had said something vaguely encouraging, or even something to the effect of "you need to work/train/try harder" rather than what she actually said ("you run like a penguin") I would probably have been a more active person than I am now. As it is, I just realised that I have built up almost 15 years of resistance to physical activities based on that statement alone. Then again, with my sister as my sister coupled with my extreme aversion to anything that might be remotely embarrassing (also recently realised, after much soul-searching as to why I never participate in anything), what she said might have just been another mitigating factor that boosted an already-latent phobia. --- When I said that I changed churches due to personal reasons (me, in a failed attempt to not divulge more information than necessary), a friend asked if it was because of a (romantic) break-up or something of that sort. To which I blithely replied, "No, at any rate, no one in that church ever asked me out." In a later e-mail conversation, he wrote: Come to my cell more often; I'm sure our guys would like to ask you out. Right. I'm sure I'm only in church to meet my life partner, no? --- I finally got round to registering at some website because I was being bored and lazy (I'd intended to do some writing, but never got round to it). While hanging out the clothes (yes, at 11 at night) it came to mind that I would only be checking up on it very sporadically. Which suddenly made me think that I have been totally over-using the word 'sporadically' in the last few weeks. --- It's been a Wesley-ish few days, with me having dinner with Yue-Yi, drinks with Jared and lunch with Han Wei in the space of two days. --- Whatever they say about marriages getting later and later is true. Most of my friends (disregarding the exceptional few) are getting married at 30 (or almost 30) or, being in their late 20's, are either single or dating with no intention of marriage in the foreseeable future yet. 'Foreseeable' being from the accounting standpoint of 'in the next 12 months'. And yet, as I blurted to Yue-Yi, I would like to get married before I reach 30. There's just that fact (as stated above) that no one has ever bothered to ask me out yet... --- I still get occasional pangs of regret that I never asked my interviewer, Adrian, if he was from SIB KL. I just knew his face was extremely familiar. It wouldn't have made any difference anyway. --- I just realised that 'There Might Be a Light' from Jars of Clay's latest album, The Long Fall Back to Earth, is a love song. The chorus goes: There might be a light Reading: Triplanetary - EE 'Doc' Smith Listening to: Amateur Lovers - Switchfoot |

Perfumes! POSTED AT 01:11 PM
When it comes down to scents, I don’t think I’m really all that fussy. I’ve been using dream by GAP scents for a while – something light. Lately, I’ve been alternating it with Oceanus from The Body Shop, a gift from a girlfriend of mine. On initial use, I thought it was a bit strong – my nose reacted by giving me bouts of sneezing. Then I got used to it, as I tend to do. Now that both bottles are reaching their end, I’m going to have to make a decision. To stick to what I already have and like – or to try something new? Time go to shopping at the perfume store, I suppose. (this is a sponsored post) |

on content POSTED AT 01:23 PM I think I am starting adverts again (see earlier post) - if payperpost does come up with interesting opps that I am actually qualified for. Also looking at social sparks. Might be looking at other places too. It's not that I need more money, or have too much free time. It's just that I really need to buck up on my writing (or at least have some goals about it) before my English dies. For real. I'm gearing for NaNoWriMo in November too, I hope. Assuming that I will have time. Heh. |

gentlemen POSTED AT 08:26 PM That same old thought strikes again - why are guys from brethren churches so much more gentlemanly than those from charismatic churches? Bleh. So to relate the new comparison (you can probably search for the old ones somewhere in my archives, haha) take this: One: I'm supposed to meet Mr A (from a brethren church) at the LCCT. I ask how we should meet there. He says it's up to me, we can carpool there, or meet there separately, at my convenience. I mention that I don't think my dad wants to drive all the way from PJ to LCCT, should I meet him at his place in USJ? To which he says, it's okay, I can pick you up from PJ. Which is a detour backwards from USJ to PJ back to LCCT, adding a maybe 20 - 30 mins to his drive, one way, depending on the traffic. Two: It's raining and I'm stuck in the (charismatic) church porch without an umbrella. My car is outside. I share my predicament with Mr B who says, "oh yeah, my car is outside too." So I ask him how he's going to get to it. He says, "Mr C is going to drop me at my car." And then he walks off. Okay, to save them, another guy later offered to drop me off at my car. Even then, I had to remind him when he said he's going to go. On another matter, my dad bought a new old peugeot. We now have all the problems of a 3-car household in a 2-driver household.
